KYR Episode 2 released!

I am very happy to tell you all I have finally had the chance to upload the latest episode of Know Your Role, Episode 2, recorded August 11th. The topics are many, the length is about an hour and a half, and the echo is horrendous. I am recording episode 3 tonight, and hope to be online from home by Wednesday night, so hopefully will be able to upload the 3rd episode then. Enjoy my thoughts on the Burning Crusade, Patch 1.12: Drums of War, and democracy in WoW, I present the Offline Edition of Know Your Role.

New KYR 'in the can'

I just wanted to pop in before I start work quick to let you all know, across all my sites, that last night I recorded a new episode of Know Your Role, where I discuss some of the stuff in WoW, like the 1.12 patch, the news surrounding the upcoming expansion, Democracy in WoW's creation, and more. I hope you'll all take a listen, and pardon the echo. On the upside, I am told I should be into my new place by the end of next week!

The future of my podcasts

You all, I assume, know or have noticed that my podcasts, both Know Your Role and Canadian Geek Podcast, have pretty much gone stagnant. Well, I hope that some new developments will change this fact. As I mentioned before, the reason that CGP pretty much pod faded since the beginning of the year was because I moved back to my parents, and my time and ability to podcast pretty much died.

I often do my info gathering and podcasting late in the evening, but when the rest of the house is asleep, the podcast either is forced to change, or ends up fading. I also found it hard to podcast when my shifts were so varied that I would often close one night and need to be back to work with barely enough time to take a bus home, sleep, wake up and go back to work.

Now I find myself in a job with a shift variance of no more than 2 hours from day to day, and I will be moving to my own place again within a few days. I am not sure yet when my internet will be up, but I do plan to at least do some podcast recording within a few weeks or even a few days. Look for new podcasts within the first week or two of August!

CGP Episode 007b - February 21, 2006

Belated, but here, the next episode of the Canadian Geek Podcast has arrived, though not in the originally planned form. This is numbered 7b, since it's another bare podcast episode, and between the a and b episodes, it is about the size of a real podcast. I talked a fair bit about the Digital Media Cast Experiment, who has already helped me to improve the podcast. Let me know if you like the changes I made. I played a bunch of stuff right at the end, though I will admit to not having the links for it anymore. I am sure Google News will have more than enough links to the stories. The reason this is not a real podcast is cause my new Plantronics Audio 100 isn't here yet. I hope to see it in my hands on Wednesday or Thursday. Based on the list of stuff I want to talk about, the next real podcast will be a kick ass one. Stay tuned!

CGP Episode 007a - February 10, 2006

Ok, not much, less than half an hour long, but it does have some tech content, mostly in the form of badly thought out rants, and an explanation of what's going on with me. As always, leave your thoughts and your comments via Skype at cdngeek or by calling (240) 764-4763 on your landline, cell, or internet telephone. Links to the topics will be found below.

Awesome!

I am famous! Again! And this time is was my face, not only my name! I got contacted a few weeks ago from a writer at the Winnipeg Free Press, Gabrielle Giroday, who is writing a story about Podcasting. Yes, that is write, CGP is getting into the press! After being on the air at CBC Radio for about 10 minutes, this just adds to my elation about this all. Course, this means I need to get a new episode out and quick! The full article will be out Saturday, though a preview with my picture was in the second page of today's paper as a preview for the article tomorrow.

Apparently, if you assign the title of the preview to my photo, I am a pod person. *shrug* Could be worse. Anyways, if you are in Winnipeg, or have access to the Winnipeg Free Press or their website, feel free to check out the article and leave me comments on my Skype username or by calling my Skype voice mail at (240) 764-4763. Yes, I know I have a US number for the Canadian Geek Podcast, but Skype doesn't have Canadian numbers, and I felt European would be a bad choice. Either way, I hope you all enjoy the podcast if you get here from the article, and leave me comments, so I can gage listener reaction.

New feature of CGP

Hey everyone, sorry for being so slow to get out this next episode of the podcast. Things have just not been ripe for a podcast late. I do have an hour of tech talk with myself, Chuck, Ericca, and Jenn, friends from around the net, which I will work on editing today and tomorrow between shows and other stuff, and then I will get to work on getting the rest of the content put together that I need. I had hoped it would not be more than a month between my Christmas eve cast and this one, but alas, it was not in my control. I will be putting into place some deadlines in order to ensure more timely and frequent podcasts.

But now to the big news. If you have Skype, or are able to call the US without too much cost, I have a new feature available. I have purchased a Skype In account, which includes a landline number and voicemail! That is right. You can, at your leisure, leave me voice mail in response to the podcast. The number, if you wish to call it, is (240) 764-4763, which I am told is a number in the Fort Wayne, IN area. Also, if you cannot call that area, or if you just want to use Skype, if you call user cdngeek, you will be able to leave a voicemail there as well. That's right, two ways you can leave feedback for the Canadian Geek Podcast! I have come into the new faze of podcasting! Enjoy, and hope to hear from you all.

Podcast publicity!

Hey all. If you live in Winnipeg, or can find a way online, I will be on CBC Radio 990 tomorrow morning(Jan 13) just before 7 AM to talk about podcasting. I hope a few people who can tune in, do. I also hope to get a recording of the show for those who cannot. I have a busy day tomorrow, with a meeting with a reporter from the Winnipeg Free Press in the early evening, then a meetup with a CBC Radio guy who is talking to podcast enthusiasts across Canada, Tod Maffin, tomorrow night at Rae & Jerry's. I will give a full run down of my time on the radio tomorrow on Geek Blog for sure, and will probably have a lengthy recording either way for my podcast with my thoughts. See you round.

New site!!!

Nope, not a new look or design. We now have a new domain for the site though, so if you want to bookmark this page, either as the abbreviation CGP or as the full Canadian Geek Podcast, feel free to do so by simply dragging the link to your bookmarks. I was also contacted today by a reporter from the Winnipeg Free Press to partake in an article about this revolution in media, Podcasting, so I will be sure to get you all what I can from that article when it comes out. I will be trying to release a new episode Thursday or Friday of this week, which will be the end of '05 episode.
